Northwest Hills Remodel - * Design Excellence Award Winner *
Prior to completing this full scale remodel (in conjunction with New Urban Homebuilders), this 1980's northwest Austin home was compartmentalized and dark. It was a beautiful neighborhood and the house had potential, so we decided to take it down to the studs and restructure the spaces to create a more open and light-filled flow. Saltillo tile floors were replaced with custom stained hardwoods, all windows were replaced with large transoms looking out to a carefully land-scaped back patio, and a few key walls were removed to open up the views from kitchen to living and dining. The kitchen was completely re-oriented and finished with all new materials including a rough-cut travertine tile backsplash, hand selected black comet granite slab counters, and all new appliances and cabinets.
